You may have noticed that once again, in 2023, Ram will be offering its new generation of pickup trucks, but also the old one, under the Classic name. Apart from the fact that the two models are different in design, what are the real differences between the two, the ones that really matter?

The style
The first thing that strikes you is, of course, the difference in design between the two models. This is only to be expected, as Ram has completely reworked the styling of its model to bring it up to date with the arrival of the new generation.
What's amazing is that you can see the new Ram is more modern, but you realize that the old one is still magnificent. The latter was presented for 2009. This confirms that its lines are timeless. They still look good after almost 15 years.
The interior
On board, the difference is more noticeable, which is only to be expected. Let's face it, it's great with the Classic model. However, the new Ram benefits from a more modern technology and multimedia approach, making it much more of its time.
The multimedia system screen, for example, is absolutely spectacular. Also, with the more luxurious models, the quality of materials has been enhanced, so that the richness is more palpable with the new Ram.
Price range
Ram decided to keep the previous-generation model on the menu because it wanted to offer workers more economical solutions. Comparing the basic versions of two proposals, we see a difference of around $12,000. There are also significant differences when you look at the range. It's up to you to judge where your priorities lie, but if you're looking for a vehicle for work, there are significant savings to be made.
Under the hood
Ram could have greatly simplified its offering with the Ram Classic, but it has decided to remain generous. It offers several cab and body configurations, so you're sure to find what you're looking for. And under the hood, two powerplants are still available: the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and the famous 5.7-liter Hemi V8, available as an option.
Understandably, the Ram 1500 2023 offers a little more. The two mechanical features of the Classic model are on the menu, but not necessarily with all variants. What's important to remember is that, in addition to offering the same powertrains, you can opt for the 3-liter 6-cylinder Diesel with certain versions, as well as the 702-hp Hellcat V8 engine with the TRX variant.
Finally, while it's true that the new Ram offers a more refined driving experience, we shouldn't forget that it's the evolution of a model that was THE benchmark in the field before its redesign. The Classic model still offers exemplary handling, and is always superior to the competition's new models.
